INCENTIVE
TO MOVE SCHEME
Following
work by the 'Incentive to Move Scheme' Tenants
Focus Group, important changes are to be made to the
current Incentive to Move Scheme.
The scheme is intended to help the Housing Service make
best possible use of its housing stock by creating a package
to encourage occupiers of three or four bedroom houses to
move to smaller accommodation.
The current scheme, although initially aimed at old age
pensioners, is to be extended by removing any age restrictions
and increasing the payment received by tenants to £2,000-£2,500
for exceptional circumstances.
As well as the payment of £2,000, Housing Services
would pay for the connection/reconnection of electricity,
gas, and telephone as well as organise and pay for removals
on the day.
Graham Saveker, Principal Housing Officer, commented, "The
Incentive to Move Focus Group has worked very hard in producing
changes that will be of benefit to the tenants willing to
change their properties and helping the Housing Service
make best use of the stock".
