St. Davids Rise Community Action Group
Herefordshire
Housing tenants and other residents from St. Davids Rise
in Little Dewchurch, recently decided that their estate could do with improving.
With the support of the Tenant Participation Team they arranged an estate meeting
at their local village hall on 26th June 2003 and at the meeting, the St. Davids
Rise Community Action Group was formed.
One of the tenants, Amanda Donaghey, designed and produced posters and flyers to advertise the meeting and, together with other tenants, delivered them to each property on the estate.
The meeting attracted a large turnout of tenants and residents, and the young people on the estate were also well represented. Richard Hancock, the Tenant Participation and Community Regeneration Officer, Chaired the meeting and PC Andrew Bundy was also in attendance.
A committee of 11 adults and 3 teenagers were elected to represent the estate and they were given a list of issues to look at which included Abandoned cars, Recycling, car parking, Property Improvements and providing youth facilities.
The
first committee meeting was held on the 16th July 2003 and the groups Vice Chairman,
David Cook pictured left, said, This is a wonderful opportunity for the residents
of St. Davids Rise to make a positive contribution to the improvement of our
Community. I am confident that the group will work in partnership with all service
providers to that end.
