Applications for housing benefit will continue to be made to, and payments made from, the Council. Advice on housing benefit will still be available at the Council's offices and, informally, at Herefordshire Housing's offices.

In the interest of efficient administration of housing benefit by the Council and regular cash flow to the Company, it would be preferable for housing benefit to be paid direct to the Company rather than to each individual tenant. This would also avoid the possibility of tenants forgetting to pay, or avoiding paying, their rent, with the knock-on cost to the Company of pursuing outstanding rent payments.

The transfer will not affect tenants entitlement to receive housing benefit.
