Tenants' Disability Group |
MINUTES
1.
Welcome and Apologies. Dave welcomed all to the meeting, there were 10 members
present and one Guest.
There were apologies from Stuart, Wendy, Mr & Mrs Stevens and Teresa. As
both Stuart and Teresa were still unwell Dave took the chair.
2. Minutes of Last Meeting. Dave read these to the group, Elaine
pointed out that Eleen had not been at the meeting when the books were sorted
out, apart from this item the group agreed that the minutes were correct and
Dave signed them as so.
3. Matters Arising. Teresa went to the Country and Western evening
and was given a cheque for the group. This was for £1,025. The group thanked
John for all his hard work and he was asked to pass on thanks to all those who
helped him with the C/W Events. Please note, at the end of the meeting Teresa
came and presented the cheque to the group.
4. Trip Update. Dave said that the next trip was to the Cotswold Wildlife
Park on the 16th July. He hoped for a full bus.
5. Treasurers Report. Elaine showed the group how she was keeping
the books now, everyone thought that she was doing a good job. Elaine told the
group that we now had a nice amount in the bank, and with the latest cheque
it looked even better. Six members were now on the cheque-signing list, and
it was hoped that it would be possible to get two to sign at any time. It was
suggested that the £1,025 should perhaps be put into a account where it
would make more interest, after all John's hard work to raise it, it should not
be left just lying in a account that only got a low interest. Elaine to look
into this. £17 was raised from the raffle held today.
6.
Proposals for Recommendation to the Group. As this was causing upset
for some members of the group, it was decided that the matter should be put
on hold for now. All agreed that it was a grand Group as it was and that was
how most wanted it to stay.
7. Any Other Business. John asked how the group felt about a - Christmas
Raffle, it was agreed that he go ahead with this and when needed ask for help
from members. John had thought that it would be nice to hold an afternoon get
together with some refreshments, perhaps at The Lads Club again, and on that
day the draw for the raffle could be held. The entire Group thought that this
was a good idea and John was given the go ahead. He pointed out that he wanted
the raffle early to beat the usual rush just before Christmas.
Dave is to contact The Add mag and The Journal to see if he can put in an article
(no not Stephen) to try and raise the profile of the group.
Other types of advertising were also to be looked at. Those who were bringing
prizes next month are Jean, Nigel and Margaret. Dave said that a number of people
were sending out bills in the hope that people would just pay them; it is always
a good idea to check to see if you do owe the money first.
8. Date of Next Meeting. This will be on the 11th July, at Canal Road Centre,
lOam.
