5. SUPPORTING PEOPLE
Dawn Stradling, senior review officer and Ian Gardener, Supporting People manager gave a very informative talk.
Supporting People is a national programme paid for by the taxpayer and is a government requirement. .
In Herefordshire we have 20% of people over 60, 15% over 75 and 42% over 85 years of age. We expect over the next five years a 20% increase of people over sixty.

The Supporting People Programme is committed to ensuring that the elderly and vulnerable have the opportunity to live independently.
Your Warden should be your advocate. They can put you in touch with the relevant services you need to live
independently. Wardens will contact you individually to fill in a Supporting People Support Plan.

Supporting People have invested one and a half million pounds with Herefordshire Housing.
Dawn told the group that she is senior review officer. I am head of a team that vets the services. Every six months
we will review the Service. We visit your landlord to ensure that they are fulfilling their duties. We will talk to the
tenants to make sure that they are receiving the service that they were promised. Most importantly we will look to see if the service is working.
